Barefoot Run 4/13/11

Its been a while since I've been posting, but then again, since i've been sprinting there has really been no need to post about barefoot running. It's my personal belief that sprinting while barefoot would be, for lack of a better word, DUMB: unless you have built up your foot strength significantly. Anyway, after quite the easy sprint practice today I decided to do a cool down on the inside of the track completely barefoot. I ended up helping pace our 10K runner for the last 5 minutes or so of his tempo. I have to say, running barefoot again was one of the best feelings I've had while running in a long time. Today during practice, my ankles and shins hurt a bit for no particular reason...the minute I took my shoes off and started running, everything got better. I am looking forward to this summer, when I plan on building up my foot endurance slowly so I can run barefoot more often.
